Wage ceiling for coverage of ESI has been increased

ESIC has increased the wage ceiling for coverage of ESI from 7500/- to 10000/- w.e.f 1/10/2006 and Ten more slabs have been added to Standard Benefit Rate Table.

ESIC hikes rehabilitation allowance for disabled

ESIC has increased the rehabilitation allowance given to the disabled insured persons, receiving training through vocational training centers, from Rs. 45 to Rs. 123 per day, in a decision taken at the 134th meeting of the Corporation held for approval of annual report for 2004-05.

ESIC has also decided to bear the entire expenditure on implementation of medical care scheme in the north-eastern states for the first five years against years as of now in view of the geographic and economic conditions of the regions.

In other parts of the country the respective State Governments share some burden on the medical care provided to the insured persons under ESI Scheme.

The Corporation has also decided to bear full expenditure for setting up and administering the units of Indian Systems of Medicine (AYUSH) for the first 5 years in view of the increasing interest shown by the insured person in the alternative systems of medicine.
